Critical Role Campaign 4 Introduces the Fighters Group

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, fiends, and malevolent powers growing in influence within the city.

Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of this adventure follow below.

The Soldiers Table Introduced

Episode 3 ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of characters who will separate from the main group to begin their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

Hence, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Prelude, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.

What Defines the Combat Party

As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.

Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might look out of place, but the actions of the third episode show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Motivations for Departure

To begin with, the group understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing started the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his own means, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the character, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.

The antagonist then settled his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each character has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
  • Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a nasty place.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • But, their reputation as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the party reach areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Additionally, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are sought by the rulers that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind dangerous:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • The target is wanted dead by the family.

This results in them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in quest for the traitor.

Future Episodes

According to episode three’s follow-up content, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Explorers and Schemers groups.

Fans can expect discovering which characters will be where in the story’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on October 24.
